Place: Magapit Bridge (Lal-lo, Cagayan)
Date: 25 May 2008
We were inside the van since 6:30 in the morning, and it was already nearing lunch time and we’re still in Cagayan Province! Oh my gosh! This province is really, really big! Anyway, my butt started to get hurt (and numb - really), so I saw a gleam of light when Tito Jaime said that there’s a bridge here that looked like the Golden Gate bridge in California. That really kept me awake because I didn’t want to miss it!
When we spotted the bridge, it was indeed like that of the Golden Gate bridge, only that this one is silver! Hehehehe… It was such a great view — seeing the river underneath and the trees surrounding it. I asked Tito Jaime to stop the van for a while so I could take a picture of the bridge in horizontal form, but Tito Jaime said there’s a much better spot further down the road. Being someone who always pass by the road, for sure he knows the road more than me.
However, I was a bit disappointed when he said we’re there already — I didn’t see the nice, clear view of the horizontal bridge, rather, we’re by the entrance of the bridge! I was kidding them that we should get back, but the “SCs” (Senior Citizens — hahaha) were getting tired and wanted to go home, so we just made use of the time.
I am a bit shy to ask Aunt Julie to take a picture of me, so as always, it’s self-portrait mode for me. I just didn’t look good because the sun was in front of me so my eyes were squinted! This episode started the series of minimal frustrations and disappointments, but if there’s one funny thing about this one was that when we all saw the bridge from afar, we were all kidding each other that it’s like being in the US! That being said, Tita Beth and Tita Chit took out their coats and neck gear that they bought in Banaue so that when they pose for pictures, it would look as if they’re really in the US! Hahahaha…
As they pose for pictures, we were laughing hard because they were really feeling as if they’re in the US! Tita Letty’s nephew even joked that they should wish no jeepney and/or tricycle pass by the bridge, or it’ll blow off their picture! Imagine, they were posing as if they’re in the US and there’s a Philippine vehicle behind them? =) Actually, there was a jeepney that passed by, so we waited until the coast is clear before I took their picture.
