After eating lunch in Jollibee and checking out the big Eagle of the North, brother and I head on to our next destination: the Bauang Church (read: baw-wang). To save some money, we decided to take the ordinary (no airconditioning) bus because the big provincial buses would charge so much for a minimum fare. We did save some fare money by taking the ordinary bus, but it really sucked when it stops at every street corner and the driver drove way too slow.
Actually, brother was even able to take a picture of the facade and altar of the church in Caba (two towns away from Agoo) because the driver decided to take a “coffee break!” Of course, since I didn’t get to see the church personally, I cannot post the two pictures brother took. He owned the images, I cannot use it.
We arrived in Bauang nearly 2PM. Took shots of the facade, but the church’s doors are still locked, even the one on the side. I talked to the staff in the office and said that the maintenance people were still on break and would get back by 2:30PM, so we were asked to just lounge and wait ’til it opens. A wedding was scheduled at 4PM, so the staff said we won’t have to worry about things.
Here are some pictures:

*** The grotto that would welcome you should you enter by the side of the church. ***

*** The altar. I love the contrast of the orange brick walls and the white altar. It’s like a mix of old and new. ***

*** The church-goers’ area. The front door was still closed, but the chandeliers are still clear in sight. Simple yet elegant chandeliers. ***

*** The adoration chapel. Located on the right side of the side entrance, this is just a small building for people who wanted some quiet time with the Lord when the main church is closed. ***

*** Inside the adoration chapel. A great place to recollect thoughts, right? Very solemn and intimate. ***
Visiting this church surely is one great experience. I love the details of this church - the simplicity of it that’s truly amazing! Not only that, the church’s staffs are really accomodating and so friendly! To the kids who were practicing for the wedding, thank you for allowing me to take pictures first. I know I took some minutes of your practice time, so I hope you accept my apology and gratitude through this blog of mine.
