Influencing Factors and Improvement Methods on Low-temperature Fluidity of Lubricants

Low-temperature fluidity referred to the ability of lubricants to maintain normal flow at lowtemperature. It was an important performance of lubricants. In low temperature environment,poor fluidity oflubricants would bring negative effects on engine start-up,mechanical wear,lubrication system heat dissipationand cleaning. Low-temperature fluidity of lubricants could be evaluated by low-temperature viscosity and/orboundary pumping temperature. The main reasons for the loss of fluidity of lubricating oil at low temperature wereviscous-temperature solidification and structural solidification. The low temperature fluidity of lubricating oilcould be improved by dewaxing,adding pour point depressant and/or viscosity index improver,and using syntheticoil with excellent low temperature performance.(Charts 0 Tables4 References10)
