Correlation Research between Kinematic Viscosity and Oxidative Stability of Naphthenic Stocks

The correlation between kinematic viscosity and oxidative stability of four kinds of hydrogenatednaphthenic Stocks from Karamay was studied. The kinematic viscosities of the four hydrogenated naphthenicStocks were 30.64 mm~2/s,46.52 mm~2/s,68.13 mm~2/s and 100.30 mm~2/s respectively. The initial oxidativetemperature and acid number of the four hydrogenated naphthenic Stocks were determined by pressure differentialscanning calorimetry(PDSC)and copper strip oxidation respectively. The initial oxidative temperatures of thefour hydrogenated naphthenic Stocks were 171.9 ℃,173.4 ℃,174.1 ℃ and 174.5 ℃. The acid number afteroxidation was 3.02 mg/g,2.76 mg/g,2.54 mg/g and 2.42 mg/g. With the increase of the kinematic viscosity ofhydrogenated naphthenic Stocks at 40 ℃,the initial oxidative temperature increased gradually while the acidnumber decreased gradually after oxidation,and the oxidative stability of hydrogenated naphthenic Stocks gotbetter and better. The correlation between initial oxidative temperature and acid number after oxidation wasobvious,and the correlation coefficient was 0.97. In addition,the four hydrogenated naphthenic Stocks had goodsusceptibility to 2,6—di-tert-butyl-p—cresol antioxidant(T501).(Charts6 Tables3 References3)
