China’s Floating Population Spatial Distribution and Influencing Factors: Evidence from Year 2010 Population Census of China

WANG Gui-xin PAN Ze-han
According to the analysis of Year 2010 Population Census of China, the major space distribution features of China’s floating population are of following: There is intraprovincial population floating rather interprovincial; the intraprovincial floating population is mainly distributed in provinces with a large population; the places receiving interprovincial population are mainly located in east provinces with fast economic development; the emigrating provinces are mainly in east and middle part of China. Major reasons accounting for the spatial distribution of the floating population are that intraprovincial migration is affected by the population scale while the interprovincial migration is impacted by the economic development level, population scale and spatial distance of the emigrating provinces.
