An Analysis of the Linkage between the World Economic Pattern and the World Urban System

This article analyses the transformation of the world economic pattern and the world urban system from three aspects and four dimensions.And the linkage between the two is also discussed.It is argued that with the rise of Asia,emerging economies and mainland China in the process of economic globalization,the world economic pattern and the world urban system have witnessed significant transformation.However,the change is different from that experienced during the period of Industrial Revolution,which was characterized by overturn of the world economic pattern and the world urban system.The latest change enabled by economic globalization features poly-centric transformations,which is expected to remain in force.This is expected to be one of the most exciting areas of research on urban and regional development.
